About Dr. Prashant Patel

Helping people prevent heart disease before it starts through evidence-based cardiology, early diagnosis and patient education.

My journey in medicine has been driven by one simple belief: the best treatment is preventing disease before it develops. Through preventive cardiology, modern cardiac diagnostics and heart health education, my goal is to help individuals and families lead healthier lives.

Every Journey Has a Purpose

Not every doctor begins their career knowing exactly where they want to go. My own journey into cardiology has been shaped by experiences, inspiring mentors, countless patients and one simple belief—that preventing disease is always better than treating it.

I graduated with my MBBS from Pramukh Swami Medical College, Karamsad, Gujarat, in 2010. Like many young graduates, I explored different career paths and even prepared for the GMAT with the intention of pursuing an MBA. However, my mother encouraged me to continue serving society through medicine instead. Looking back today, that conversation became one of the most important turning points in my life.

Instead of changing professions, I accepted a position as a Medical Officer at the newly established Cardiac Centre of Shree Krishna Hospital, Karamsad. Watching experienced cardiologists diagnose complex heart diseases and transform patients’ lives ignited my passion for cardiology. What began as a job soon became my life’s calling.

Discovering My Passion for Cardiology

During the next three years, I worked extensively in emergency departments and intensive care units, managing critically ill patients across various hospitals. Those years taught me not only how to handle medical emergencies but also the importance of quick decision-making, teamwork and compassionate patient care.

In 2013, I joined the Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Cardiology (PGDCC) at Bankers Heart Institute, Vadodara. The Government of India-supported programme was established to train physicians in non-invasive clinical cardiology with a special focus on the early detection and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, particularly for underserved and semi-urban populations.

The philosophy of the programme resonated deeply with me because it emphasized something I strongly believed in—preventing heart disease before it becomes life-threatening.

At Bankers Heart Institute, I received intensive training in clinical cardiology, cardiac intensive care, emergency cardiac management and non-invasive cardiac investigations. I continued my association with the Bankers Group until 2017, gaining invaluable experience caring for patients with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions.

Learning Across India

Believing that every institution offers unique opportunities to learn, I continued my journey across different parts of India.

At Fortis Hospital, Dehradun, I developed expertise in adult and paediatric echocardiography. The hospital’s participation in government-supported congenital heart disease screening programmes provided valuable experience in the early diagnosis of heart diseases in children.

Later, at CIMS Hospital, Ahmedabad, I further strengthened my clinical skills while working in one of Gujarat’s leading cardiac centres, gaining valuable exposure to evidence-based cardiology and multidisciplinary cardiac care.

My journey then took me to Himachal Heart Institute, Mandi, where the research-oriented environment reinforced the importance of scientific thinking, continuous learning and practising medicine based on the latest clinical evidence.

Every institution strengthened my clinical skills, broadened my perspective and reinforced my belief that the best cardiology combines scientific evidence with compassionate patient care.

Coming Back Home

In 2025, after spending nearly 15 years learning and working in different parts of India, I decided to return to my hometown in Gujarat.

It was a deeply personal decision.

I wanted to spend more time with my ageing parents while dedicating my experience to serving the community where I was born and raised.

Returning home was never about slowing down—it was about giving back.

Why Preventive Cardiology?

Throughout my career, one experience has remained with me.

I have seen young men and women admitted to intensive care units with their very first heart attack while their spouses, children and parents waited outside in shock and disbelief.

Many of these events could have been prevented, delayed or detected much earlier.

Simple lifestyle changes, routine health check-ups and timely management of blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and obesity can dramatically reduce the risk of heart disease.

Unfortunately, preventive cardiology and patient education still receive far less attention than they deserve.

That realisation shaped my professional mission.

My goal is not only to diagnose heart disease but to help people understand their personal risk, detect problems early and make practical lifestyle changes that protect their hearts for years to come.

My Mission

Building healthier hearts. Creating a Healthy Gujarati.

I believe that knowledge is one of the most powerful forms of preventive medicine.

My mission is to make evidence-based heart health information simple, practical and accessible in Gujarati so that individuals and families can make informed decisions about their health.

Through preventive cardiology, comprehensive cardiac evaluation, lifestyle counselling and patient education, I hope to reduce the burden of preventable heart disease in our community.

“The greatest achievement in cardiology is not treating a heart attack—it’s helping someone never have one.”
